Enclosed are salient features of what people think about Transperfect or what TPT affiliates state:

I present this report to blacklist Transperfect for ... [their] unethical practice[s].  Any company that [conducts themselves as does TPT] should be avoided.

This company is a total rip-off. We advise all its clients to find alternative suppliers. The company's quality of products is a disgrace.

Customers who are tricked by Transperfect should also voice their concerns and if any potential customer is reading this, please save yourself a lifetime of translation errors and a lot of money by Googling some other companies. There are faithful and honest ones that compete with this corrupt agency. Surprised they are not investigated yet.

Avoid transperfect at all costs. In 30 years of otherwise untainted experience as a freelancer I have never once encountered a firm of such ill repute with employees who blatantly lie to get your interest.

I have considered TransPerfect a bad actor for some time ... The company’s lack of organization … are such obvious sources of trouble that I think one must be critically short of self-respect to pursue a relationship [with Transperfect].

[The incumbent HR/VP at Transperfect has stated] Today, experts across the land were stunned to find out that a brand new [redacted] was created. At one time Manhattan was lousey [sic …] with them, but in recent years the decline in the population gave hope and inspiration to many that this once rampant scourge on the city was finally at an end.

But today, at the office of the City Clerk, a brand spanking new [redacted] was created through the marriage of [redacted] & [redacted].

The [redacted]s, as the [sic] refer to themselves, are denizens of the upper west side, a hotbed of liberal shenanigans and louche [dubious, shady, disreputable … just like Transperfect!] leanings. Where will this all end? Rush Limbaugh has already blamed Obama and Shamus, Mitt Romney's roof-riding dog for allowing this travesty to happen. Rick Santorum vomited. Ron Paul said someting [sic] about pudding.

[redacted] and [redacted] could not be reached for comment, having had a day of revelry at Del Posto (a known outpost for subversives) with the usual suspects - [redacted]. They had the pre-fixe or so they say. You know how these people are.

People were wonderful to them which should be a major issue in the upcoming Republican primaries.

New [redacted]s? What's next - civil rights for everyone?

It's a strange world we live in.

Please get some big heavy chains and attach yourselves to the sinking ship and cultural cesspool that is Transperfect. Your behavior disgust me.

Not a welcoming environment

Extremely poor control system

Senior management is immature and it can be a very high school-esque environment. It's frustrating to work endlessly and see no potential for reward. Incredibly high turnover is a telling indicator.  co-workers ... they're miserable ; Advice to Senior Management

Terrible salary and office culture. High turnover.

my office environment was a joke

everyone's unhappy

coworkers will text, call, email you to tell you how unhappy they are which just feeds your own unhappiness.
management is a complete joke.

Management is disrespectful.
the "culture" here is … whoever sucks up most and parties with their boss the most will get the most rewards.

If things don't change on the employee side, this company ultimately will fall apart

A TPT Project Manager, an Ivy League grad has stated ... 'oh my God, look how ugly she is ... how can she expect to get any work with such an ugly picture? She has to take that picture down if she expects to get any work. [the picture was posted on a candidate's professional website]

A Director at Transperfect ... asks his charges/colleagues/reports to LIE relative to certifying Transperfect's work product; this is in variance with Transperfect's much touted ISO certifications.

A person who claims to be a VP at Transperfect, brags about cheating and lying. [redacted], 33, who states that he is gay [the editor of this comment is not implying a value judgment on orientation, believes in equal rights for all people, and includes this to hi-light hypocricy], a Scientologist (a follower of Scientology) states: "I walk down the streets of New York everyday knowing that I am the sh!t. I probably scr@wed your girlfriend, wife, daughter or all of the above. ... Just remember no salesman is successful without ... lying. ... I can bone [my clients] if necessary" This person also states that he is (paraphrased) not the sharpest tack on the wall.

An IT Help Desk Employee of TPT has a nasty and inappropriate habit of smirking at people. If you had an IQ similar to this person would you smirk at anyone?

The erstwhile Quality Assurance Director at TPT’s work product has been described as:

… unsettling ...
The characters are generally unhappy and unlikeable; their problems aren't neatly resolved by the end of the story.
One word comes to mind after reading this book: pointless.
It has no discernible plot or storyline, no conflict or resolution, no self discovery or catharsis, no clarity or cohesion.
The protagonist [author??] is clearly unhappy … living in his miserable past,
The writing itself is often painful to read. It is utterly disjointed and without cohesion. The author … fails miserably.
"What on earth is going on here?".
The book jumps all over the place with seemingly disconnected chapters, as though the author had thrown a few books at the wall, picked up the pages that fell out and then threw them together ...
Also distressing is the author's (or characters? I'll go with author's) misogyny.
Every woman is described not in terms of the value of her as a character but by who she's slept with and how easily.
Women are referred to as 'stupid whores' and every female character in the book is described in relation to promiscuous behavior.
If this is how the author views women no wonder he has as much self loathing.
Save your money.
The back of a bottle of shampoo has a better plot than this book.

a fan of this person has stated: "I walked in his house put my stuff down said where's my copy of [redacted] so I don't leave without it b!tch! And he handed it over."

A TPT Affiliate is impersonating and libeling others on the web. Liz Elting and Phil Shawe ought to realize that the behavior fostered by TPT Management is ultimately their responsibility and could prove to be a legally enterprise ending event. What would the ISO 9001 & EN 15038 Quality Assurance organizations say?

A garbage attendant (who shaves his head) at 3 Park Avenue has in the past acted aggressively, going out of his way on multiple occasions to block the path of an employee of a company headquartered at 3 Park (Transperfect). 3 Park Avenue - An extremely hostile environment.

A TPT Typsetter/DTP employee has made didactic pronouncements at TPT: 'me and my boyz are gonna' teach him a lethon'!

Let's get down to Brass Tacks:  Transperfect is a company strewn (with few notable exceptions) with nasty, cheap veneered, low caliber, hyped up mediocres who would lie in a minute and laugh and/or smirk at you while doing so.  TPT management allows for its staff to attempt to unacceptably / inappropriately bully other employees who provide a satisfactory work product This MO affects TPT's work product.  Its QA/QC is questionable at best and TPT is considered a low quality agency (its erstwhile 'Director' is a graduate of a school that has been rated 4th Tier (although there may be autodidact, intelligent spawns from that institution, it is apparently well known for its Women's Bowling Team). TPT QA/QC operates in a vindictive manner seeking 'actionable' errors in an attempt to discipline employees they don't like while dismissing as venial similar otherwise 'actionable' errors committed by employees TPT Managers/Directors favor [read: those who get drunk with supervisors]);  TPT QA/QC conducts kangaroo court-like disciplinary sessions, thrusting warnings that must be signed at employees regardless of whether the employee committed an 'actionable' error.  TPT QA/QC's infantile and thinly veiled vagaries may be likened to Wayne's World/Beverly Hillbillies meets The Lord of the Flies. This is coupled with the fact that TPT Directors and Team Lead/Managers ask their employees to lie relative to 'certifying' TPT's work product, impeaching the credibility of TPT's already dubious QA/QC protocols; TPT  Project Managers inappropriately discriminate, vetting at home employees based on how 'ugly' they consider members of the freelance stable to be [based on photographs posted on freelancer's professional websites], laughing and smirking while doing so; TPT's Computer Help Desk Employees are also unintelligent mediocres who unacceptably and inappropriately attempt (in a manner unchecked by TPT HR, in variance with verbal and written complaints) to bully others; TPT has a substance abuse problem fostered by its management; TPT's management is outrageously unprofessional (e.g. web postings stating that they have likely 'boned' a client's daughter); TPT's HR Department is headed by an employee who squirms to cover up the mess that TPT and concomitantly TPT's work product is; 'Me and my boys are gonna' teach him a lesson' (paraphrasing a cartoon of a lush/street urchin wannabe at TPT) and now (2/7/11) TPT announces that one of its teams has provided a software product used relative to IRBs (institutional review boards).  Would you trust TPT, a company who 'self certifies' with the above mentioned bizarre idiosyncracies to now have anything to do with oversight of IRB management? This all adds up to one obvious conclusion: STAY AWAY FROM TRANSPERFECT.

Read the reviews about Transperfect.  They all seem to say one thing: STAY AWAY FROM TRANSPERFECT.  In variance with Transperfect's infantile mutual admiration society, with few notable exceptions Transperfect is merely a hornet's nest of hyped up mediocrity (dummies, dilettantes and parrots), egregiously cheap veneer, nastiness and deceit.

(TPT) "TransPerfect is notoriously known as a "low-quality agency" [web posting by a professional translator warning others to avoid TPT]

TPT AFFILIATES NOW COMMIT IDENTITY THEFT

Dan Milczarski has Directed the QA (Quality Assurance/Control) team at TPT. Dan's team has been capable of finding and disciplining employees and freelancers for "actionable" errors. Dan graduated from New Jersey City University, which has been rated as a Tier 4, less selective school by US News; Dan has read Kurt Vonnegut and taken a class devoted to the movie The Big Lebowski.

TPT AFFILIATES NOW COMMIT IDENTITY THEFT (e.g. in the form of unacceptable attempted cyber bullying and posting comments in other's names).  Co-CEOs Liz Elting and Phil Shawe ought to put in check their unwise affiliates. What would Transperfect's potential clients think?

A Senior Translator / Supervisor at TPT has referred to many of its employees as *trash and/or simple (as in simple minded).

D. Kudish is a Senior Translator at TPT.

TPT "Senior Management is absolutely terrible." "HR is so incompetent."  Robert Denoia is the incumbent head of TPT HR.  Mark Peeler is the VP of Global Production at TPT.

TPT Director (e.g. Brent Armstrong) and other (e.g. Project) Management level employees have on more than one occasion, requested that work be falsely "certified" in variance with highly touted [e.g. ISO, EC], yet selectively (at times scapegoating-ly)  invoked QA/QC tenets.  Such conduct impeaches the credibility of QA/QC at TPT. Brent Armstrong has been a DIII (is that JV?) athlete.

TPT project managers (both male and female, e.g. Marina Yoffe) illegally discriminate against remote (work at home) professional freelancers based on how "ugly" pictures posted on the candidate's professional website are deemed to be.

"Those are nasty, insincere people with inflated sense of self" [a high caliber TPT employee after leaving the company].

Employees of TPT unacceptably attempt to bully other TPT employees; e.g. Andrew Gates, IT Help Desk employee, likes to smirk at people. If you had Andrew Gates' IQ and/or graduated from the college that Andrew Gates did, would you smirk at anyone? Dim-wits and doofuses ought to look in the mirror before Elmer Fudding about and smirking at others.  Erin Sweeney has a management position relative to "efficiency" at TPT.  She, too, likes to smirk at people.  Perhaps Ms. Sweeney should look in the mirror before smirking at others.  TPT Employees conjure, drum and hype up charges inappropriately against people they do not like.  What ever happened to providing leadership by example?

"Today's Job is to get [redacted] drunk." [Brent Armstrong, TPT Director, encouraging substance abuse in a female subordinate].
There is a substance abuse problem at TPT, fostered by management.
"Me and my boys are going to teach him a lesson" [David Patrick, TPT typesetter, after bragging about how much alcohol he consumed (getting one's load on), [evincing the hostile environment accepted by management, in variance with numerous written and verbal complaints, at TPT]

A person who identifies himself as Joey, a VP at Transperfect (and, too, a gay, Scientologist [a follower of Scientology]) brags on line about cheating and lying, stating: "I walk down the streets of New York everyday knowing that I am the shit. I probably screwed your girlfriend, wife, daughter or all of the above... I can rub my clients down and even bone them if necessary ... Just remember no salesmen is successful without ... lying." QED.  Stay Away from Transperfect.

TPT's Corporate Headquarters is located at 3 Park Avenue, New York, NY 10016.  That building is managed by the Cohen Brothers.  Its building staff, e.g. a Garbage Attendant, act unacceptably hostile towards the Cohen Brothers' tenant's employees, e.g. going out of their way to block the paths of tenant's employees, on multiple occasions.  Would you work at a venue where the building management staff are absolutely not to be trusted?  The Cohen Brothers ought to keep their unacceptably aggressive staff in check.

Viewing a selective QC/QA disciplinary action relative to a purportedly "actionable" error at Transperfect is akin to watching theater of the absurd.  QA/QC tenets are invoked subjectively and selectively; e.g. if one is a drinking buddy or the flighty subject of Management one may expect that an otherwise "actionable" error be dismissed with a giggle, titter or smirk.  If one is not a Management-lush then one may expect to be on the short end of an attempted invocation of the wrath of the QC/QA team.  This drill may consist of the QA/QC Director walking with feigned command presence, complaining about an absurd error that may/may not be due to a particular employee and the scapegoated employee receiving a written reprimand / warning.  This is curious as a favored son or daughter / lush buddy of TPT Management would not receive the same level of vindictive discipline.  Watching the TPT QA/QC Director in action one might think of, in lieu of a dust cloud wafting about Peanut's Pig Pen character, a sonorous wafting of the Deliverance music theme, or a NYC School "Para-Professional", a mediocre observer of hanging chads of a presidential election of yore, les enfants du mais, or another peasant with a pitchfork routine. It would be one thing if Tranperfect was merely a harmless cache of mediocres running a mutual admiration society, if quasi-imperial QA tenets were not invoked selectively, discriminately, vindictively or overridden/impeached [in the form of management asking others to submit false 'certifications'] when convenient to management.  Read the reviews: STAY AWAY FROM TRANSPERFECT

From TPT's Website: Forbes : October 25, 2010: co-CEOs, Elting and Shawe continue to run its [TPT's] day-to-day operations. "From the start," Elting says, "we have dedicated ourselves to providing the very best client service possible." [e.g.??: .someone who claims to be a TPT VP (a gay Scientologist) states: "I walk down the streets of New York every day knowing that I am the shit. I probably scr*wed your girlfriend, wife daughter, or all the above  ... I can rub my clients down and even bone them if necessary."]; "Quality control is also of paramount importance, and TransPerfect has the most rigorous quality management measures in the industry" [Director level and Project Management level employees have asked other employees on more than one occasion to lie relative to 'certifying' work]; "We hire the highest-caliber linguists" ["Oh my God, look how ugly she is. How can she expect to get any work with such an ugly picture? She has to take that picture down if she wants to get any work" (paraphrasing a female project manager at TPT vetting a work at home translator); The majority of employees are extremely unhappy here; Senior management is absolutely terrible; HR is so incompetent; not one [employee] seemed remotely happy, enthusiastic or doing anything productive; [TPT has to suffer] the loss of my business on what would have been a fairly expensive project. My assessment of Transperfect is that they are a bootleg company that severely wastes the time of others with no professional courtesy whatsoever and I highly advise anyone who is considering doing business and or working for them to steer clear.];"According to Elting, the company's many locations make it convenient for most clients to meet with an account executive in person." [see comment by tptbbb dated 9/21 below, beginning with "I am a fairly young, successful, New York based sports media professional...";and, of course, the VP who is willing to 'bone them' (a convenient meeting)!]

-"I walk down the streets of New York everyday knowing that I am the sh*t. I probably scr*wed your girlfriend, wife, daughter or all of the above. ... Just remember no salesmen is successful without ... lying....I can rub my clients down and even bone them if necessary".
- paraphrased from a web posting by a person who claims to be a VP at Transperfect, bragging about cheating and lying. Joey, 33, gay, a Scientologist (a follower of Scientology);

-so what is a pervert? someone who when confronted by a management staff that fosters substance abuse in its employees suggests attendance at a pixar movie, a west point football game or chamber music [seems like good, clean, fun], or a transperfect manager who wants to "bone" your your clients and "scr*w" your daughter? harassment?? is this company transgender translations, transawful translations (if one were to believe company reviews), transperfect translations or Mrs. Warren's Profession?
-Read the reviews, they all seem to say: STAY AWAY FROM TRANSPERFECT

-Usually those that are promoted are the ones that get the drunkest with their managers.
-don't even think of working for them
-HR is absolutely horrible [robert denoia is the incumbent head of tpt hr]
-the effective death-knell of internal and external quality [at tpt]
-I would only recommend someone to work here if I wanted to destroy that relationship.
-I would venture to guess that no one that has worked at this company has left with a positive impression. And this does not even touch upon the unethical business practices
-"Oh my God, look how ugly she is. How can she expect to get any work with such an ugly picture? She has to take that picture down if she wants to get any work". [a female project manager at tpt vetting a female work at home candidate]
-a tpt director - has on more than one occasion requested that an in house senior translator submit false certifications, thereby impeaching the credibility of quality assurance at tpt
-a ny paper quoted someone as saying the victim was trying to "stay away from garbage and trouble"
-HR is so incompetent
-And this does not even touch upon the unethical business practices
-warning students to refrain from interviewing with Transperfect
-TransPerfect is Still TransAwful
-My biggest complaint with this company is the lack of respect
-need to mount a serious media campaign to let the public know what TransPerfect is, what it stands for, and how it is harming translators and the translation profession.
-TransPerfect is "a chaotic and bloated tantrum of a company that drools uncontrollably at the slightest prospect of ripping off its service providers.
-complaining to anyone within the company is pointless. ... The executives just don't care. ... Get the word out in the industry that they [tpt] are absolutely never to be worked with, ever.
-Temporary Attorney: The Sweatshop Edition: Someone has been asking about Transperfect. Avoid at all costs.
-Transperfect affiliates are now impersonating others on the web. co ceo's Phil Shawe and Liz Elting ought to put their affiliates in check. They open themselves up to legal liabilities. it would be unfortunate if they were exposed to liability to such an extent that a clearly unintelligent affiliate conducted what turns out to be an enterprising ending event.

re Sartorial: - scrubs are simple, unassuming, comfortable shirts, without a collar that are consistent with working many hours at a computer terminal. that's it.  not a statement, not to be read into.  Would wearing a simple, black mock turtleneck shirt imply one wanted to be Steve Jobs while riding the subway?
- some might consider platform shoes, pork pie hats, vests, to be ridiculous
- [Unacceptable, attempted bullying] Chronic-Smirk-Harassment [unchecked by management in variance with numerous verbal and written complaints] eradication justly directed against an effete, a clearly unintelligent help desk employee, tpt managers (Division III, Zaftig) or others is not abuse.
-the person who penned a review on 9/21/10 dismisses typists as underachievers when he/she does not know what the typist does outside of work.  This tpt affiliate dismisses typists, when typists, as a job title/category are hired by tpt.  This is discrimination [exhibited by a tpt affiliate, likely a manager or director (and traceable via computer forensics)], consistent with the toxic atmosphere exhibited by tpt personnel.  perhaps the typist, when exposed to the nasty, toxic, vapid atmosphere at transperfect, unchecked (and therefore condoned) by its management decided to focus on providing a diligent and accurate work product and to work on personal matters of achievement ancillary to tpt duties (i.e. between 5PM and 9 AM). maybe the typist witnessed the discrimination conducted against at home employees by tpt managers, clearly in variance with highly touted qa / qc 'certifications', witnessed tpt director level employees asking others to falsify 'certifications', witnessed tpt managers / directors fostering substance abuse, and was accordingly so put off / repulsed by transperfect that the typist concentrated on providing an accurate work product 9-5 and left. maybe the typist had previously gotten used to working with (and for) truly high caliber and intelligent colleagues and was duly unimpressed by comparison to what many would consider cheap veneered mediocres who are managers at tpt.  maybe, based on observation and their actions, the typist considered those who were 'account executives' (salesmen) to be merely cheap veneered parrots who lacked intelligence and talent. maybe the typist had previously worked with nobel laureates who had more humility than that exhibited by a doofus from the tpt it help desk.  maybe the typist witnessed a garbage man working for tpt's corporate headquarter's [3 park avenue, NY, NY, 10016] building management company (Cohen Bros. Management) acting aggressively (unacceptable attempted bullying), going out of his way to block the path of a client's employee (on more than one occasion) and could not have any confidence in a place where the building staff were absolutely not to be trusted.  The Cohen Brothers ought to keep their aggressive staff in check. Maybe the typist witnessed an ambitious (ancillary goals) typist colleague pressed by management to construct 'translations' based on prior art, although he/she is not fluent in the foreign language, that the senior translator/supervisor did not want to regularly check this teammate's work product because it did not add to the senior translator's 'word count' (upon which bonuses are based) and then the colleague-typist was 'reprimanded' by the mediocre qa team when something fell through the cracks [an 'actionable' error that may/may not have been due to the colleague-typist, the sub-par IT system (counterfeit/untrustworthy content 'saves' due to poor OS) or previously approved/certified work that was scapegoated on the colleague-typist]... and the typist thought of what a poor qa operation (others refer to it as a joke) tpt has.
Computer forensic experts will be charged with tracking the tpt affiliate who is impersonating (and therefore continuing to abuse/harass/conduct unacceptable attempted bullying of) others on the web and transperfect will be held liable.

Transperfect affiliates are now impersonating others on the internet.  The most recent posting on this site (posted 9/15/10) is a case of abuse, privacy infringement and identity theft.  TPT employees are deceitful, brag about lying, lie relative to QC/QA when convenient to them, discriminate relative to employment, are unethical, etc.  Now add to the above identity theft/posting comments in another's name? TPT co-ceos, liz elting and phil shawe ought to realize (and put in check) the legal liability they are being subjected to by their affiliates, possibly inclusive of an enterprise ending event.  What would tpt's clients think?

The enclosed are samples of what others think of tpt:

The majority of employees are extremely unhappy here; How does one expect to keep its company afloat when employees have zero interest invested in their job?

The employees are always so overworked & miserable.
No sense of accomplishment can ever be realized.
Senior management is absolutely terrible.
TransPerfect is not a company to work for if you want to feel proud of where you work.

While there are good employees who genuinely care, none of them have any power, which is unfortunate. Eventually these good people leave out of frustration, disrespect.
It is telling that in an economic downturn, employees quit ... because the conditions are so miserable.
Also, part of the money-making scheme is to blame freelancers for problems then demand discounts from the job.
People are not treated equally and ...there is no accountability whatsoever.
Usually those that are promoted are the ones that get the drunkest with their managers.
HR does not look out for employees’ interests ... HR is so incompetent.
I would only recommend someone to work here if I wanted to destroy that relationship. I would venture to guess that no one that has worked at this company has left with a positive impression.  And this does not even touch upon the unethical business practices…

I am a fairly young, successful, New York based sports media professional. I work for a network that is in the process of expanding their summer programming by buying some territories in the international sporting space. With that, we were potentially in need of outsourcing a translations company to localize our website(s) for the foreign audiences we are trying to attract. After some preliminary research, it almost seemed like hiring Transperfect’s Translations.com was a no brainer. However, when an office assistant of mine said her nephew had a fishy experience interviewing with them, I found some bad press online and my boss and I decided to take a different approach. Upon seeing a job opening for a “Sales Account Manager” to work out of their midtown Manhattan office, my boss and I made a few adjustments to my actual resume to make myself appear to be a very recent college graduate in search of a good job. I applied for the position and at first I was very impressed. The job posting itself seemed to be well written and posted on legitimate job boards (too bad I just noticed they started posting on *****’s list). Furthermore, the careers website had a very thorough application which asked potential new hires to pick from a list of their strongest business skills (such as cold calling and negotiating) and rank them on a numerical scale. At first, this all told me that Transperfect is a very organized, professional organization which seems to evaluate and nurture talent quite well. The next step in my “under cover” interview process brought me to Sandra Carpenter, an HR executive in Atlanta. Sandra and I connected for a 15 minute phone interview which I felt went pretty well as I would be moving forward to talk with Sales Manager, Mark Hjepre. Mark interviewed me over the phone for about 20 minutes in a manner, which seem to evaluate my “sales skills” in more depth. This phone conversation also turned out well when Mark suggested we meet in person. Things got fishy when I got an email from Mark asking me to meet him in a coffee shop down the street from their offices in Murray Hill. It got stranger when he tried to push back the interview time and the location of the meeting only an hour or so before we were supposed to meet. A little later on I found myself in a crowded Starbucks near Grand Central; Mr. Hjerpe was 10 minutes late when he found me and escorted me to a bar across the street. I was informed he was planning on spending the night out with a client so he was going to treat our meeting as a “pre-game” as he downed two cranberry vodkas and had me order a beer. The discussion went fine for the most part except for an awkward encounter where Mark ordered chicken wings. After a few minutes Mark became impatient with the services and rudely canceled the order with the waitress while muttering something about being a good server correlating to sales. I started to wonder how unprofessional this guy really was until he confirmed it by taking a personal call from the shop where his bike was being repaired. Anyway, Mark liked me enough to pass me through to a phone interview with Sales Director, Martha Geller. I was not surprised to get a call from Ms. Geller at our scheduled interview time asking to reschedule; I was starting to realize how inefficiently HR communicates with the actual mangers. After two phone interviews and a face to face discussion, one could imagine the questions I had to field from Martha the next day were starting to become repetitive. After talking for about 25 minutes Ms. Geller confirmed that I would be a strong fit for the position and that Sandra would let me know where I would be going from here. After talking to three different people on multiple occasions during a three week period, I would finally be seeing the inside of the actual Transperfect office to meet with VP, Jessica Eker. The office seemed flat; I only saw a few people come through the common area of the office and not one of them seemed remotely happy, enthusiastic or doing anything productive (strange for a Monday morning at the office of a company which seems to promote so much success). After waiting for almost 12 minutes, Ms. Ecker presented herself and asked me if I was there for the interview. When I said yes, I was brought into the conference room where Jessica gave me her business card, asked me my name, what position I was applying for and to see a copy of my resume (so much for the early gold star for organization in the evaluation process-this lady had no idea what I was doing there). Jessica asked me nothing but “cookie cutter” interview questions such as “what are your best personal assets, do I consider myself to be a competitive person, and where do I see myself in 5-10 years.” The interview was over after 8 minutes, nothing profound was said in any regard and I was not even given an opportunity to ask questions of my own. Jessica escorted me to the elevator and told me I was at the end of the process and Sandra from HR would be in touch soon. A few days later, I received a form email from Sandra saying that I was not chosen for the position. After going through this process, do you think I gave a positive report back to my superior in regards to the company’s efficiency and overall morale? Absolutely not, and the consequence they have to suffer is the loss of my business on what would have been a fairly expensive project. My assessment of Transperfect is that they are a bootleg company that severely wastes the time of others with no professional courtesy whatsoever and I highly advise anyone who is considering doing business and or working for them to steer clear. Furthermore, I filed a vendor claim with my employers corporate office. Within days, Co-CEO’s Phil Shaw and Elizabeth Elting will receive a letter from my corporate offices informing them of my experience, the business they lost, and how the corporation that owns my company will not be in need of their services in this calendar year. The heads of all major units of my corporation have been warned that Transperfect is a faulty vendor and that decision makers should look elsewhere if in need of any translation services. On a separate note, a week or so into the process it came up in a conversation with Sandra that I went to an incredibly selective an prestigious university in Atlanta; they very city she works out of. She said that I was a great person to find because I could help her find highly educated and talented people to help fill some of her opening down in Atlanta. Now while I would have been more then happy to have put Sandra in touch my alma mater’s career center, I filed yet another report with them warning students to refrain from interviewing with Transperfect as they are not serious about hiring. I found it interesting to find that Mark Hjerpe received his degree Humboldt State (what state is that in exactly, is this a made up college in never never land or something?)  I guess asking for legitimacy out of a company where the top executives have illegitimate educations is a very tall order.

Transperfect … uses fraudulent hiring practices, presenting temp jobs as full-time, permanent jobs with medical benefits. A friend who works there got me the job, and then when they told me after the fact that I was there only to replace someone on vacation for a few days, he [w]as highly embarrassed” … [I sent] … “them an indignant note vilifying the company’s hiring practices … I … stated what happened and why it was unethical.”

The NY State Department of Consumer Affairs, the Better Business Bureau, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) Bureau of Consumer Protection (identity theft complaint division), the IC3 (internet crime complaint center), the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) are all being contacted relative to the Transperfect Affiliate who is committing identity theft and posting false claims in the name of others.  Transperfect Translations will be charged with joint liability for these transgressions.

What a crock! I am not an employee of TPT. However, I have used TPT for projects for many years and always had a great experience with them. My first question is, would a company looking to hire a translations company really waste the time of their assistant to go "under cover" to find out how a company handles it's clients? This guy is so obvious in his bitterness over not being hired it's not even funny. It's sad actually.

If this really was an "undercover" operation for his boss - why would he be wasting his time ranting about this company, shouldn't he be out going "undercover" finding another company to do the project? I want to meet the executive at his "company" that uses their employees this way, that says something about a company for sure.

This whole post points to the reason he wasn't hired, he obviously wasn't good enough for the company and this lunatic rant proves he has serious emotional problems (hence why TPT was smart enough not to hire him)!

Whatever problem one may have with TPT, isn't nearly as bad as a company who would waste their resources and use their employee to go "undercover". This post is so obviously written by a less than stellar applicant who was not good enough to get hired and I would bet any amount of money he is still unemployed. Give me a break! TPT is a fine company and I have enjoyed my experience in working with them on various projects over the years. I just think it's sad that anyone can write anything on the web for their own agenda. I felt the need to add a rebutle. I hate people who can't handle their own issues and blame others for the reason why. Give me a break. You weren't good enough to be hired, wha wha! Perhaps you should go and look for another job rather than blaming others as to why you didn't get one and making up false claims of going "under cover." It is really sad.

Translators beware!  This company will rip you off.  They will invent errors, and anything they can to avoid paying you.  They are unethical and act in illegal ways.  They count on translators just letting it go when they cheat them.  However, as Greek saying "Those whom the Gods would destroy they first make proud."  TPT is doomed to fall and the fall will be VERY deep!

“Those are nasty, insincere people with inflated sense of self” … A TPT alum; (other TPT alums have described the environment at TPT as being “toxic” and / or “noxious”.  A TPT Senior Supervisor has told subordinates “You can kiss my a*s”; and referred to others as “*trash”

Paraphrasing a female ‘Project Manager’ while viewing the professional website and vetting a work at home employee in Transperfect’s [an ISO9000 certified company] stable of freelance workers … subsequently seconded by other Project Manager(s)/Coordinator(s), both male and female,  … TPT, exhibiting a lot of class (all of it low) ….

TPT employee(s) with Management portfolios (e.g. Brent Armstrong [Global Director - BMC / Legal-RED / MCM Departments, 212-689-5555 x 1251] and other Manager(s)) have requested (on more than one occasion) that a TPT employee “certify” translation work that the employee did not translate. 3 Park Avenue Atavistic Garbage Attendant – A garbage attendant (who shaves his head) at 3 Park Avenue has in the past acted aggressively,  going out of his way on multiple occasions to block the path of a TPT employee.  This behavior is atavistic and is consistent with what one would expect from animals at a zoo.

I’ve worked with/for this company, including with some of the people mentioned here.…a lot of my colleagues, professional translators, don’t like them.

Anon Says: May 2, 2010 at 7:20 pm Transperfect Translations does seem to be a terrible place to work. No one appears to have any experience, yet are some how full of their own self importance.

The staff turnover is really high. This is a product of overloading people and being more interested in making a 3 x mark up than doing a good job.
